So, the economy has taken a beating lately.  Many people are cutting back on un-necessary spending all over the world.  Luckily, our business seems to be weathering the storm quite well.  It may be because of our very fair prices that a workshop like Kinky King Latex can continue to sell latex clothing and latex bondage equipment even during an economic downturn.  We hope that the economic situation will push people away from the higher cost online latex shops, and give us some new customers.  Our latex sheeting and latex clothing and bondage equipment construction techniques are second to none.  But unfortunately some people may not have given us a try because our prices are TOO low, which makes some people think there might be a problem with our level of quality.  In fact, we make less profit per item than most other workshops, and sell at low prices in an attempt to attact more customers!  We have many loyal customers who have been more than pleased with items purchased from us, as well as custom work we have done for them.  Why should a guy who is 6 foot 8 inches tall and 350 pounds pay $1000 for a custom made catsuit when we can pay us only $450?  We don’t really know…

Ok so… one of the main questions I get from people who are not “into” latex fetish clothing is, “what do people do with this stuff?”

Well, the answer is more varied than people might initially think. The people, some who you might describe as fetishists, and some not, have many interests that latex happens to be a part of.

First, are the body inflation fetishists. These people are attracted to the inflatable latex items , such as our inflatable latex catsuit, inflatable body bag, or violet beauregard-esque inflatable blueberry suit. These people, many of whom I regard as my friends, enjoy the feeling of, or watching others being expanded.  Breast inflation or belly inflation are popular themes, but the general idea is inflation.  We are planning to release a new item which is a pregnancy inflation suit, very soon, so that people can achieve the measurements of a pregnant woman without, of course, actually being pregnant.

Next are the people into latex bondage.  The website offers a wide variety of latex bondage items such as a rubber sleep sack  or latex body bag (actually several types) as well as a vac bed, which allows the user to be trapped inside a double sheet of latex.  Fun stuff for those who enjoy being tied up or are into s&m, with the added eroticism of latex.

Finally are the latex fetishists who enjoy dressing in latex clothing.  We have several customers who wear latex underneath their “normal” business clothes.  People who are true latex fetishists often buy a latex catsuit from us, or any other item of latex clothing, such as latex pants, latex gloves, or a variety of other rubber suits we have on the website.  The idea though, for rubber fetishists, is total latex enclosure, much of the time.

This is question I frequently hear from friends and family - WHY!? Why do you sell latex fetish clothing? What is fetish pvc latex? Are latex pants for men good sellers? What do people DO with inflatable catsuits? Those those latex sleep sacks - who enjoys that type of latex bondage? The latex hoods - they tell me remind them of Pulp Fiction. Bring out the gimp! And the most popular question I get is, “doesn’t it get so hot inside of a latex catsuit?”

My answer is simple: I tell them it doesn’t matter. We sell products that make people happy, at prices they can afford. I believe that the only difference between selling latex fetish clothing and selling people tennis raquets or shoes is that our products bring to people a deeper and longer lasting type of enjoyment.

It’s not important to understand why everyone likes what they like. It’s just important to understand that different people like different things for different reasons, and that’s what makes the world an interesting place.

The nice thing about selling latex clothing is the support and feedback I recieve from my customers. I really couldn’t imagine a nicer bunch of people. I’m the owner of the latex fetish clothing company Kinky King Latex, which has an e-commerce website at www.kinkykinglatex.com. Several months ago, I decided that with the help of several of my employees, I would make videos to promote my website on Youtube. Little did I know that those videos would turn into an interesting and surprising social experiment.

We arrived in downtown Chicago at about noon – a perfect time to hit the lunchtime crowds of office workers. I changed into my first of several outfits – a black inflatable latex catsuit – in the less than clean bathroom of the “hut” where the attendant spent his days collecting obscene amounts of money for renting parking spaces. The attendant was quite surprised to see me emerge hooded and inflated.

After leaving the parking lot, we began to run into our first pedestrians. We expected gasps, stares, questions and general amazement at the sight of a latex encased, hooded and inflated man walking down the street amongst thousands of people. But what we got was almost no response at all. Many people averted their eyes. Some looked for 1-2 seconds. Most stared straight and acted as if they had not even seen me.

Ok, I thought. If these people won’t give me a good reaction for the video on the street – I’ll go into an enclosed area – where they’re sure to react. We spotted a Barnes & Nobles and entered it. After video taping for about 5 minutes inside – even stopping to browse the magazines amongst other customers – we still did not elicit any reactions! Next, McDonalds. Ordered some food. The woman who took my order did so in a totally normal way, as if I was wearing a business suit. The only reaction at McDonalds came from the manager who told us that it was forbidden to video tape inside…

Out of several thousand people who saw me that day, perhaps 10 took photos with their cell phones, and 5 asked what the inflatable catsuit was used for. So in the end, our videos we made showing people’s “non-reactions” were as interesting or more so than the reactions we had intended to elicit. The lesson learned was clear: people intentionally block or ignore stimuli that are outside of their comfort zones. Next time perhaps we’ll put someone in a latex sleep sack or some other type of bondage equipment and see what happens then…
